Bangkok

Introduction

Bangkok is a city of contrasts. Despite being the country's central role in administration and business, it offers a combination of the old and the new, featuring modern corporate towers with the exquisite golden pagodas, the calm of the temple compound with the frantic bustle of traffic thronged traffics and many others unique contrasts.

Nearly eight million Thais live in the capital. The people are warm and friendly like Singaporeans. Although their primary language is the Thai, there is no language barrier as English is widely used in Bangkok.

When to Go

The best time to visit Bangkok will be between November and March. It is the time when Bangkok has the least rain and a cool weather.

If you want to experience Bangkok's festive mood, go for the traditional Thai New Year, the Songkran Festival (April 12-13). It is the time where you can see the Thais running around with buckets of water, trying to bless their friends with the water. Have fun mixing with the locals and watch out for the water!
